Experience

Hello! I am excited to be teaching at Crawford County Middle School! I have been teaching 8th grade mathematics since August 2012.  I came to Crawford County from Colquitt County/C. A. Gray Junior High School where I taught 8th grade Gifted/AP Prep Math for four years.

I taught for four years after I graduated from college in 1981, stayed home 16 years to be with my children and re-entered teaching in 2001.  In 2005 I moved to Georgia with my family and immediately felt at home. After substitute teaching for one year, the door opened for me to become certified through GaTAPP. I have been teaching middle grades math ever since.

My educational philosophy can be summed up in the phrase : "Excellence is not an act; it's a habit" ~ Aristotle

I expect excellence from my students and myself. Excellence does not occur in one act or one grade, but in developing the habit of  excellence in all that one does.  Excellence in actions, behaviors, choices, and knowledge,  traits of character that I want to build in my students.

Bio

I am a southern girl! I grew up in eastern North Carolina and attended college in Nashville, Tennessee where I met my husband Phil.  My husband is a local pastor, and we have been in the ministry for 35 years.  We have three adult children.  After staying home 16 years while my children were young, I re-entered the classroom in 2001. I have taught in private Christian schools, homeschooled, and in public school, so I have a wide variety of experience to bring to the classroom. My hobbies are reading, knitting, and crochet.
